Daisy Bright

So, life happened the past 2 years since my last post. However, all is well and I’ve continued crafting throughout that time. To start fresh – here’s a card from one of my favorite sets in the new 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! catalog – Daisy Delight.

There is a matching Daisy Punch to go with this set.  Unfortunately, it is currently not available so I created this card to show my friends/customers how cute and versatile this stamp set is even without the punch.

  • For a bright and cheerful daisy I stamped it twice – once using Peek-a-boo Peach and once using Calypso Coral
  • Other flowers and leaves were stamped using Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Pear Pizzazz, with the sentiment stamped in Rich Razzleberry

Enjoy and happy stamping,
San Juan Sue

You’re Simply Wonderful for CCMC343

Today’s card was inspired by the sketch challenge at Create with Connie & Mary:

CCMC343

CCMC343 Sketch Challenge

Angles on cards are usually difficult me – I’m a straight-up kinda gal; however, this sketch encouraged me to move outside my comfort range and go for it.   It also allowed me to play with 2 new stamp sets I just received: Painted Petals and Simply Wonderful.  As you can see, I took a bit of liberty with the sketch and replaced the 3 dots with flowers.

  • Leaves and flowers from the Painted Petals stamp set are stamped in Wild Wasabi and Wisteria Wonder.
  • A strip of washi tape adds a bright spot to the card.
  • The sentiment from the Simply Wonderful stamp set is stamped in Strawberry Slush and the small flower from the same set is colored with Wild Wasabi and Wisteria Wonder markers and then stamped.
  • A panel of Wisteria Wonder and a banner of Strawberry Slush are added to a Daffodil Delight card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy, and happy stamping!

Cool Color Combination for CCMC342 Challenge

Today’s card was created for the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge:

Cool Color Combination

A great color combination that is understated, yet beautiful.  Here’s my card:

  • Spring is on my mind – Hello Honey is the perfect color for a spring flower and what goes with flowers …
  • Butterflies, of course – A large butterfly using Basic Black and Hello Honey and a small Basic Black butterfly combine for additonal spring elements on the card.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a quick glance at spring.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Enjoy, and happy stamping,
Sue

Hello Again

Hello.  With the remodel almost finished, I’m finally getting a chance to get back to my blog. My card was inspired by this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge CCMC301. Everything about this card was accidental – most of the stamped pieces where ones I had lying around on the desk and the framelit pieces originally were cut too big so I had to “recut” them, which gave me the wonderful window effect. I love when creativity “just happens”.  Here’s how the card came together:

  • Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, and Smokey Slate combine for a fresh spring feel.
  • You can never go wrong with layered flowers popped up with a dimensional.
  • A gray candy dot accents the flower center.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy, and happy stamping!

Guest Stamper – Carol Bergstrom

I’d like to share with you a card created by a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – Carol Bergstrom.  Carol creates hundreds of cards for Kaiser Permanente patients.  While her inspirations come from fellow demonstrators and websites, her style is unique and her cards are creative and cute.

This card features Stampin’ Up’s Flower Shop stamp set and coordinating punch.  I love how she used the flower stamp as both a background on the green panel and as a focal point on the white panel.

Carol does not have a blog; however, feel free to leave her a comment here.

Enjoy, and happy stamping!

Thinking of You – KP Patient Card

While living in California I had the pleasure of making cards for patients hospitalized at the Kaiser Permanente, Roseville facility with the hopes of brightening a patient’s day.

  • The bright colors of Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, and Melon Mambo (Beyond the Garden DSP) serve as the focal point for this cheery card.
  • Melon Mambo was reinforced with a background panel and a single candy dot.

I hope this card brought a smile to the patient.  What do you think?

Spring!

Spring is here.  It’s a beautiful morning on the island with lots of sunshine. I love it!  Such a cheery start to the day inspired me to share this spring card with you:

  • Madison Avenue flowers in cheery colors of Calypso Coral and Baja Breeze set the tone.
  • The Daffodil Delight butterfly and flower centers adds another touch of bright color and reminds me of the sunshine.

Happy Spring, and happy stamping!

DSP Inspiration

I’m ready for spring; however, the weather has other ideas.  To brighten my day, I created a vase of flowers using colors found in a piece of Floral District DSP (retired).

I used my markers to color the vase, stems, and flowers (Button Buddies – retired stamp set) and added a candy dot to the center of the middle flower to give it a pop of “blue” color.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

I’m ready for flowers, lots and lots of pretty flowers.  So this week’s challenge from Less is More was perfect.

Come on Spring!

While spring is still 2 weeks away, I think most of the country is ready for it now! Ready for warmer weather, sunshine, and flowers. Today’s card, created for my stamp club last spring, makes me think of the spring that will eventually be here.

The Earth Laughs in Flowers

The Earth Laughs in Flowers

The background was created by inking up a large acrylic block and the Melon Mambo vase and flower “pops” against the green background and Daffodil Delight flower. Indeed, “the earth laughs in flowers” – e.e. cummings, is the perfect saying for the welcome arrival of spring
